Andrew Thomas Carroll was born in Gateshead on January 6, 1989.He completed a remarkable journey from St James' Park ball boy to Toon star when he made his debut against Palermo in a 1-0 UEFA Cup win in 2006, becoming the club's youngest ever European debutant in the process.
He was on the losing side for Newcastle United against Liverpool in the semi-final of the FA Youth Cup in March 2007.
In 2007, he received the prestigious 'Wor Jackie Milburn Trophy', given each year to the rising star of North-East football.
The striker scored his first senior goal for Newcastle United against Juventus in a friendly on July 29, 2007. After the game the Juventus 'keeper Gianluigi Buffon tipped Carroll to have a big future.
